ResponderExcluirZdenko,
ResponderExcluirI didn't know Vesna personally, but I have studied some of her games, and I became a true fan of hers. :)
I discovered about her death a few days ago, and I was shocked. She was so young... :/
Thanks for your feedback. It's good to know my little tribute reached a friend of Vesna.
Regards from Brazil,
Paulo
Oh, Zdenko, and thank you for linking my tribute in your blog.
ResponderExcluirHere is the solution to the problem of Vesna's game:
ResponderExcluir1. ... Rxg4!! is the key move that Vesna played. Her opponent couldn't capture the Rook, because of:
2. hxg4 Qxf2!!
Rh8+!! is coming next, and the only way to avoid immediate checkmate is to sacrifice another piece.
Brilliant, isn't it?
An example of how the game could continue:
ResponderExcluir1. ... Rxg4!!
2. hxg4 Qxf2!!
3. Rxe5 fxe5
4. Qxe5+ f6
5. Qc7+ Kh6
6. Qxc6 Rh8
7. Qd5 Kg7+
8. Qh5 gxh5
9. g5 Rd8
10. gxf6+ Kxf6
11. b6 Qh4+
12. Kg1 Rd1#
